Area Doctor Joins Advanced Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, Bringing New Specialty

Advanced Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine will welcome board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist Tristan C. Briones, II, M.D., starting Jan. 2. With the addition of Dr. Briones to their team, the practice will begin offering physical medicine and rehabilitation care, a specialty focused on nonsurgical treatments to relieve pain and restore function related to bone, joint, muscle and nerve conditions. Dr. Briones will be seeing patients at 2780 Frederica St. Those seeking specialized, nonsurgical care for their pain needs are encouraged to call 270-926-4100.

Serving the Owensboro area for over 16 years, Dr. Briones delivers experienced, specialized treatment and management for musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. In his practice, he actively listens to his patients’ needs and concerns to better help them improve their function and live well. He brings his own experience as a former patient in physical medicine and rehabilitation after an automobile accident. 

Dr. Briones’ expertise includes the following:

  • Epidural steroid injections.
  • Facet and sacroiliac joint injections.
  • Spinal cord stimulator trials and management.
  • Advanced diagnostics, including electromyography and nerve conduction studies.

After earning his medical degree from Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico, Dr. Briones completed an internship in internal medicine at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, Pennsylvania. He then completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at The Ohio State University in Columbus. Dr. Briones is board-certified by both the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Board of Pain Medicine.
